From early mornings filled with laughter and chatter in school uniforms, to long afternoons immersed in creativity, competition, and classroom learning — this school wasn’t just a place to study. It was a home that nurtured my dreams.

Like many students, my journey at Bijoynagar Adarsha Vidyamandir (H.S) began with curiosity and a little nervousness. But what I received was far beyond textbooks. I found a place that encouraged self-expression, creativity, and personal growth.
I still remember the excitement of annual celebrations and debate competitions. I delivered speeches, participated in cultural programs, and experienced the unforgettable thrill of hearing my name announced for awards. Every time I stepped on stage, I gained more confidence — something that helped shape my career and personality.
Decorating the school during functions and festivals was one of my favorite parts. Painting banners, arranging flowers, setting up the courtyard — it always felt like celebrating a festival of creativity.

While academics were important, my biggest growth came through art. It was in the art room of this very school that I discovered my passion for drawing and painting. What started as a hobby slowly became my identity.
I spent countless afternoons with pencils, colors, and sketchbooks. Eventually, I even started teaching junior students for free, conducting small drawing classes after school. That experience gave me the confidence to dream big and become the artist and designer I am today.
Many of my classmates also excelled in music, storytelling, poetry, and dance. Our school truly celebrated creativity in all forms, giving equal respect to every student’s unique talent.
🌳 Learning in Nature’s Lap
I still remember how we used to sit under a big tree in the school courtyard, sketching or preparing for competitions. The peaceful surroundings of Bijoynagar, combined with the friendly school environment, made every school day feel magical. It was not just a school — it was a place that respected nature, values, and culture.
🤝 Unity and Friendship: The Soul of My School Life
One of the best things about my school was the strong bond between students and teachers. We were like a big family. I made some of the closest friends of my life here — friends who supported me, challenged me, and walked beside me through every phase.
Whether it was completing group projects, practicing skits for a function, or sharing tiffin under the shade — every memory is deeply etched in my heart. I learned teamwork, empathy, leadership, and gratitude, not from a book, but from real moments with my classmates and teachers.
🌿 Sukumar Sir: The Green Teacher of the Sundarbans
Behind all of this was one man whose influence changed my life — Sukumar Paira, lovingly known as Sukumar Sir.
He is the Principal of Bijoynagar Adarsha Vidyamandir (H.S), and without doubt, the greatest teacher of my life. During my school years, I stayed in the hostel, and Sukumar Sir supported me like a guardian — not just academically, but emotionally and financially too.
His kindness, encouragement, and trust in my abilities played a huge role in shaping who I am today. He didn’t just teach us — he uplifted us.
Beyond the classroom, Sukumar Sir is a renowned environmentalist and the founder of the Bali Nature and Wildlife Conservation Society. Since 1999, he has worked closely with organizations like the WWF, Sundarbans Tiger Reserve, and others to protect the fragile ecosystem of the Sundarbans.
In 2002, he started a nature club with just 7 children. Today, it has grown into a powerful movement — 26 nature clubs, 2,500+ students, and 20 schools actively participating. His mission goes beyond education; he inspires entire communities to protect wildlife, especially the Royal Bengal Tiger.
He also authored Atanu Smarak Sankalan, a book that captures the culture of Sundarban. For all his efforts, he received the Green Teacher Award in 2007.
For me and many others, he is a hero, a teacher, and a role model.
🧡 My Personal Journey with Sukumar Sir
I feel incredibly fortunate to have been a student of Sukumar Sir. He played a role in my life that goes far beyond the walls of a classroom. During my school hostel life, he supported me financially and emotionally, ensuring that I never gave up on my studies or passion for painting.
When things were difficult at home, Sukumar Sir stood beside me like a guardian, providing more than just academic guidance. He gave me hope, strength, and self-belief. Whether it was helping me with supplies, motivating me during tough times, or simply encouraging my art — his support meant the world to me.
What I have today is deeply rooted in the foundation he built for me. His impact on my life is something I will always cherish with love, gratitude, and pride.
💫 A Legacy That Lives On
Even today, everything I do — whether it’s creating designs, helping others, or staying connected to my roots — is a reflection of the lessons I learned at Bijoynagar Adarsha Vidyamandir (H.S). The values of discipline, creativity, empathy, and environmental responsibility still guide my life.
Whenever I visit my school or reconnect with my old friends and teachers, I feel the same warmth, pride, and nostalgia. The school might be on a small island, but the impact it has had on my life is vast and eternal.
