Most people think you need a ₹1 lakh+ MacBook or a powerful gaming PC to start a creative career in graphic design. But I’m here to break that myth.
As a full-time designer from Sundarban, I built my own setup on a tight budget—and it handles Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, and even animation software with no problem.
Let me show you how.
🔌 The Heart of My Setup – Built for Performance
My main computer runs on an Intel Core i5-8500T processor, backed with 16GB of DDR4 RAM and a fast SSD. It may not have a dedicated graphics card, but for 2D work like digital art, thumbnails, print design, and light video editing—it runs like butter.
I paired it with a clean, matte-black custom cabinet that keeps everything cool and efficient.

My performance tower – small, powerful, and minimal design. It’s the backbone of my creative studio.
🖥️ Monitor Matters – Full HD for Clear, Color-Accurate Design
One of the most important things for a designer is the monitor. I use an Acer 21.5″ Full HD LED display with vibrant color and thin bezels. It’s lightweight and perfect for editing photos, creating thumbnails, or working on illustrations.
🔋 Power Backup? Absolutely.
Living in a rural area comes with power challenges. So I use a Zebronics UPS that protects my computer from shutdowns during voltage drops or outages. It gives me enough time to save work and shut down safely—no data loss.
🎯 What I Use It For
With this setup, I work on:
Adobe Photoshop for posters, thumbnails, photo edits
- Illustrator for logos and branding
- Canva & Figma for social content
- After Effects for motion graphics
- Cartoon Animator 4 for animation
- Blender (light use) for learning 3D
And yes—it handles them all smoothly.

💡 Lessons I Learned (Bug Fixes I Faced)
When I first started using this setup, I faced a few small issues:
Windows freezing during rendering (fixed with updates + SSD cleanup)
- Monitor too bright (calibrated manually)
- UPS not working initially (missing driver)
Now, everything runs smoothly. And the best part? I learned how to fix these bugs without any tech support.
🛍️ Some Other Computers to Consider (If You're Planning to Buy)
If you’re just starting out and want ideas, here are some trusted options:
HP Pavilion (Ryzen 5, 16GB RAM) – good for students
- ASUS VivoBook i7 (laptop) – great for portable work
- iMac 24” M1 – for professional creators with higher budget
- Custom Build with RTX GPU – ideal for video editing, 3D, or streaming
But if you’re on a budget like me, build what you can and upgrade later!
🧠 Final Thought: You Don’t Need Expensive Gear to Be Creative
I built this PC with care, time, and heart. It may not be fancy—but it supports my passion, pays my bills, and fuels my growth.
Start with what you have. Improve what you can. The best computer is the one that lets you create consistently.
